DYFI CEC strongly opposes the all-round hike in rail fares
The Central Executive Committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India strongly opposes the all-round hike in rail fares announced by the railway minister.
In a rare decision taken ahead of the Budget, Railway minister DV Sadananda Gowda, yesterday announced an across-the-board hike in fares of all classes from June 25, the first such increase in a decade. The fare has gone up by 14.2 percent for passengers and 6.5 percentages for the freight.
By raising rail fare, Modi government has shown its real face to voters. The hike in the fares of second sleeper and suburban fares is particularly unjustified as they will burden the ordinary people who are already suffering from all-round price rise. We demand the immediate withdrawal of the fare hikes.
The CEC of DYFI calls upon all its units to observe
