Police Brutality On Youth At Tuticorin.
Tuticorin and Tirunelveli districts are witnessing spate of caste killings for nearly a year. The government is a mute spectator. Several police officers played partisan role on behalf of dominant castes thus vitiating the situation still further. Despite several earlier commission of enquiries had pointed out that lack of development is root cause of all caste conflicts, the successive governments did nothing to industrialize the area. The long neglected area is a fertile ground for caste organizations.
In the above condotion DYFI and SFI decided to hold joint peace rally demanding industry, insisting peace in the region. Unable to maintain peace in the region the Tamil Nadu government and police decided against the peace rally. The peace rally was inaugurated by Member of Legislative assembly and CPIM central committee member com. K. Balakrishnan.
Without any provocation police lathi charged the youths and those who are assembled to felicitate the processionists, including CPIM dist secy KS Arjunan,party's dist secretariat members were brutally attacked by police. Scores of youth were beaten vengefully by police. Scores if cadres were admitted in the hospital and were arrested.
Condemning the police brutality democratic forces led by CPIM state secretariat member K.Kanagaraj started road roko. In Tamil Nadu's this region castist forces are allowed free run by the police whereas those insisting on peaceful resolution are brutally attacked by AIADMK Government and Police

About us
DYFI was formed in Ludhiana on 3rd November 1980. Prior to formation, the leaders of KSYF of Kerala, Socialist Valibar organisation of Tamil Nadu, Nav Jawan Sabha of Punjab, DYF of West Bengal etc assembled in Delhi and gave shape to a Preparatory Committee. This committee conducted a conference in Ludhiana from 1st to 3rd November for the formation of DYFI. The constitution and programme of the new organisation was adopted in this conference.
