DYFI Protest against Israel Attack on Palestine

The Central Executive Committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India strongly condemns the barbaric attack by the Israeli soldiers on Palestine people. Israel, ever since its creation, instead of seeking the peace and goodwill of the neighboring Arab people, has been engaged in extending its territories over Palestine.

The CEC of DYFI extends its whole hearted support to the Palastine people in their just and heroic struggle to throw out the Israeli aggression from its territories. The Israeli air strikes have even targeted nursery schools and hospitals. 33 schools have been completely damaged killing many innocent children. Six hospitals have been targeted and partially damaged including a centre for the disabled where two disabled women were killed and scores of others were wounded. So far 166 civilians were killed including 33 children and hundreds of people were injured according to Gaza’s health department. Israel has launched more than 1,300 air strikes in their latest series of attacks.

The DYFI calls upon the Government of India to come forward to condemn these killings. DYFI also demand the government that it should try its best to engage other nations in the UN and other international forums to force Israel to immediately stop the violence. There should be an independent international investigation on this bloodshed to make sure that those responsible be held accountable.

The reporting of the western media on this Israel aggression is completely one sided. It should be noted that Israel is bombing a refugee population. Palastinians were made refugees when they were forced from their land in 1948 in order to create Israel. It is also a fact that Gaza has no army, air force or navy while Israel possesses one of the strongest militaries in the world. When it is portrayed that Israel’s shelling of a civilian population as a response or retaliation to rocket strikes from Gaza, one should remember that these events flow from the displacement of the overwhelming majority of the Palastinian people from their homes with millions now displaced as refugees in the Gaza strip. The initial injustice is compounded and continues with ongoing occupation and siege.

DYFI calls upon the youth and other sections of the society all over the country to come forward and organize protest actions against this brutal attack perpetrated by Israel.

Many communities in the disease zones have inadequate sanitation that allow frequent trash piles and open sewers to serve as mosquito breeding and feeding grounds, according to the final outcome statement from the Aedes aegypti summit last month.
